In August 2025, Rikolto, in collaboration with the Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment (C&E) and a group of students and teacher from the National University of Singapore (NUS), organized a nutrition-focused exchange at Yen Hoa and Nam Trung Yen secondary schools in Hanoi, Vietnam. The delegation from NUS included three students and their supervisor, Doctor Jerome KOK, Lecturer of NUS College, NUS Environmental Research Institute.

Since August 2024, NUS has partnered with Rikolto to develop ideas and gain insights into Vietnam’s school food systems. During their visit from July 30 to August 1, 2025, the NUS students worked with Rikolto, C&E, and the two schools to deliver a series of interactive nutrition communication activities.

Students learned about nutrients and healthy eating habits through visual materials and engaging games. Guided by the NUS students, teams of pupils competed in quiz-based challenges, which enabled them to practice English, strengthen teamwork skills, and retain nutrition knowledge in a more dynamic way.

This activity not only provided valuable experiences for students but also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in education and sustainable development. By connecting Rikolto, NUS, C&E, and schools, the program has built bridges of knowledge, fostered cultural exchange, and spread the spirit of creative learning towards a sustainable food system for the younger generation.

The program was part of the schools’ summer extracurricular activities, supported by the GoodFood@School Project. Alongside the exchange with NUS, Yen Hoa and Nam Trung Yen schools also organized events such as the Junior Masterchef Contest, The Face Yen Hoa 2025, and an upcoming school garden renovation project at Nam Trung Yen school. Together, these activities help create a friendly and creative learning environment where students can explore food in a practical and engaging way.
