Rikolto in Southeast Asia (SEA) operates in Vietnam, with an office based in Hanoi. To support the implementation of our Rice Project in the Mekong Delta region, we are seeking to recruit a motivated and qualified Vietnamese professional for the Rice Field Project Officer position. This position will be based in Dong Thap Province.
- Job Overview: The Rice Field Project Officer works under the direct supervision of the Rice Project Manager and in close coordination with programme officers, partners, and local stakeholders in the rice sector. The position supports day-to-day field implementation of the Rice Programme, including coordination of field activities, support to farmer organizations and partners, and collection of programme data in line with approved work plans.
- Contract type: Full-time (1-year contract with the possibility of extension)
- Expected starting date: February 2026 (or as soon as possible)
- Key responsibilities:
- Implement programme interventions aligned with sustainable rice production, inclusive business, and enabling environment strategies through active coordination with partners and stakeholders at field level.
- Provide hands-on field support and technical assistance to programme partners, cooperatives, and farmer groups to ensure activities are implemented in line with approved work plans.
- Coordinate with programme partners on planning, executing, and monitoring field activities; conduct regular field visits to track progress, identify challenges, and provide timely operational or technical support.
- Support the programme’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes through field-level data collection, verification, and timely submission of required information.
- Contribute field inputs to programme and donor reports, and support knowledge management by documenting field experiences, lessons learned, and good practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cooperatives, farmer groups, service providers, local authorities, and other stakeholders relevant to the rice sector.
- Support professional development efforts, assist visitors and expatriates as needed, and perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
- Basic Requirements:
- A college or bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Agronomy, Business, Environment, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or related discipline.
- Experience working with farmers, cooperatives, or local partners in agricultural or rural development projects.
- Practical experience in field implementation, coordination, or community-based activities is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of rice cultivation, sustainable agricultural practices, and the ability to support farmers in field operations.
- Familiarity with environmental sustainability and gender and youth integration in agriculture is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability in field support and problem-solving, with practical approaches to technical and operational challenges.
- Skills in coaching and mentoring; result-oriented mindset with attention to quality.
- Experience in networking and stakeholder engagement with local communities and institutional partners.
- Strong motivation for continuous learning and sharing knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Vietnamese nationality with excellent command of Vietnamese; working knowledge of English is desirable.
