Rikolto in Southeast Asia (SEA) operates in Vietnam, with an office based in Hanoi. To support the implementation of our Rice Project in the Mekong Delta region, we are seeking to recruit a motivated and qualified Vietnamese professional for the Rice Carbon Officer position. This position will be preferably based in Dong Thap Province; however, Hanoi may be considered depending on candidate availability and suitability.
- Job Overview: The Rice Carbon Officer works under the supervision of the Rice Project Manager and in close coordination with programme colleagues, partners, and relevant actors. The position coordinates and supports the implementation and monitoring of carbon-related activities within the Rice Programme, ensuring technical quality, data integrity, and alignment with recognised carbon standards and Rikolto’s monitoring and learning framework.
- Contract type: Full-time (1-year contract with the possibility of extension)
- Expected starting date: February 2026 (or as soon as possible)
- Key responsibilities:
- Implement programme interventions aligned with sustainable production, inclusive business, and enabling environment strategies, with a specific focus on carbon-related activities, through active coordination with stakeholders.
- Provide technical coordination and quality assurance for carbon-related interventions within the Rice Programme, ensuring alignment with recognised carbon accounting standards and methodologies (e.g. VCS, Gold Standard, ACR, or equivalent).
- Coordinate with programme partners, technical service providers, and field teams on planning, executing, and reviewing carbon-related activities and data collection; conduct field visits as required.
- Coordinate carbon-related data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting, ensuring data integrity and compliance with programme Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning(MEL) requirements and carbon Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)standards.
- Contribute to the programme’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes, including the integration of carbon indicators into the Rice Programme MEL system and participation in learning and knowledge management processes such asE4I and SROI.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, companies, service providers, government bodies, donors, and development actors relevant to carbon initiatives and the rice value chain.
- Support knowledge management, assist visitors and expatriates as needed, and perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
- Basic Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Economics, Rural Development, or a related field; a master’s degree in a relevant field is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated understanding of the carbon project development cycle and nature-based carbon accounting methodologies, such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS),Gold Standard, Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCBS), and/or the American Carbon Registry (ACR).
- Experience in data collection, management, and analysis for agricultural, environmental, or climate-related projects.
- Experience in environmental sustainability, and gender and youth mainstreaming within agricultural value chains is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of carbon accounting concepts, MRV requirements, and carbon-related indicators in agricultural systems.
- Demonstrated ability in field coordination, analytical thinking, and problem-solving, with practical approaches to technical challenges.
- Skills in coaching and mentoring; result-oriented mindset with attention to quality and data integrity.
- Experience in networking and stakeholder engagement with farmers, local partners, service providers, and institutional stakeholders.
- Strong motivation for continuous learning and sharing knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Vietnamese nationality with excellent command of Vietnamese; excellent command of English (reading, speaking, and comprehension) is required.
